Staffing Agency Finds Work for Stay at Home Moms
Mom Corps is an Atlanta-based staffing agency that specializes in finding temporary or contract work for lawyers, accountants, vice presidents of marketing and the like who are now stay-at-home parents. The work typically can be completed in 10-20 hours a week, and many of the projects can be done at home.
The company was started by Allison O'Kelly, a certified public accountant with an MBA from Harvard, who left the management track at Toys R Us after having her first child. O'Kelly tried being a stay-at-home mom for three months, but it wasn't for her, and so she started a bookkeeping business from home. As O'Kelly got more work than she could handle, she farmed out the extra work to other at-home mom friends. Thus, Mom Corps was born.

Moms Corp also reminds us of an article appearing in May 2005 on Boston.com about the law firm of Lewis & Malone, which actively recruits lawyer mothers to help handle its appellate advocacy work.
